Power producers are allowed to operate in three states

Companies Agroerg das Minas Gerais Ltda., S.A. Usina Coruripe Açúcar e Álcool, Energética Santa Helena S/A andCompanhia de Eletricidade do Acrewere authorized by the National Energy Agency (ANEEL) to act as independent power producers*. In this condition, the companies may sell part or all power produced at its own risk. The decision was taken on a public meeting of the board yesterday (05/11).

Agroerg will install and exploit Thermoelectric Plant (TEP) Agroerg das Minas Gerais in the city of Centralina (MG). The TEP will have 45 megawatts (MW) of power.  Coruripe should deploy the TEP S.A. Usina Coruripe in Iturama (MG). The power to be installed in the plant will be 20 megawatts. 

In Nova Andradina, Mato Grosso do Sul, Energética Santa Helena will deploy and exploit TEP Santa Helena with 4.8 MW of power, divided into two generating units of 3.2 and 1.6 MW. Companhia de Eletricidade do Acre will be responsible for installing, in Rio Branco, TEP Belo Jardim. The thermal plant will have power of 40 megawatts.

The plants located in Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso do Sul will use sugar-cane bagasse as fuel. The thermal plant in Acre will be powered by diesel fuel
