The National Energy Agency (ANEEL) approved the amendment of the implementation schedule of the Power Plant Simplicio – Queda Única, located in the cities of Sapucaia and Três Rios, in Rio de Janeiro and the cities of Além Paraíba and Chiador, in Minas Gerais. The plant, granted to Furnas Centrais Elétricas S.A., should have entered into commercial operation in September 2010.
Furnas requested a change of schedule and said the start of operation was compromised by delays in the process of environmental licensing. The modification does not affect the obligations entered into by a commercial company in Auction No. 002/2005 and will not interfere in the application of penalties to the entrepreneur for noncompliance with the original schedule.
The start of commercial operation of the plant's first generating unit is scheduled for August 31, 2011. The power plant will have 333.7 megawatts (MW) of minimum installed power, divided between the Anta and Simplício Power Houses. (FA/GL)
