The board of the National Energy Agency (ANEEL) authorized Ecourbis Ambiental S/A to act as autoproducer* of energy, through the establishment and operation of Thermal Power Plant (TPP) Sapopemba in São Paulo.
The plant will have 16 generators with total installed capacity of 25.6 MW. To generate the biogas, the plant will use landfill as a primary fuel. The company's request was approved today (14) in a public meeting of the board of the Agency.
The company was also authorized the deployment and operation the transmission system of restricted interest of TPP Sapopemba, which will consist of a substation to be connected directly to the distribution of Eletropaulo.
Because this is a project based on biogas from landfill and injected power that is less than 30 MW, the company will be entitled to rate incentives, such as reduction in the percentage of Rate for Use of Transmission System (TUST), according to Normative Resolution No. 077/2004of ANEEL.
The percentage of reduction will be applied while the company uses, as energy input, at least 50% of biomass composed of municipal solid waste and/or landfill biogas or bio digesters of vegetable or animal waste, or sludge from sewage treatment plants.
The permit has a term of 30 years as from the date of publication of the authorizing resolution in the Official Journal of the Union (DOU). (FA/GL)
