The concession contracts for setting up business transmission auctioned on December 9, 2010 (Transmission Auction no. 008/2010) will be signed on Thursday (06/16), at 3pm, at the headquarters of the National Energy Agency (ANEEL).

Eight lots of projects were requested, with 555 kilometers (km) of transmission lines and nine substations, disputed by 14 companies and 10 consortia. Investors are Brazilians, Spaniards, Portuguese and Chinese. The works will generate about four thousand direct jobs and demand investments of BRL 785.8 million. However, a lot of enterprises (Lot E – Xavantes/Pyrenees Transmission Line, in Goiás, 50 km) had no bidders.

The lines and substations will be built in six states: Rio Grande do Sul, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Pará. The operation of the transmission lines and substations varies from 18 to 24 months after the signing of contract. The projects are planned in the Transmission Expansion Program prepared by the Energy Research Company (EPE).

The average discount of the auction was 43.67%. The Annual Revenue Allowed (RAP)* of companies that will operate the lines and substations auctioned, in seven lots, was expected to be BRL 93 million, which was closed at BLR 52.42 million with the completion of the auction. This difference contributes to low rates, as the revenue of the transmission is a component of energy cost. (GL / DB)

*Annual revenue allowed: it is the annual revenue that the transmitter is entitled for the provision of public service of transmission to users, as from entry into commercial of facilities. Its value is that obtained as a result of the auction, with annual update with the Wide Consumer Price Index (IPCA), by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), and review every five years under a concession contract.
