The board of the National Energy Agency (ANEEL) has decided to intensify the inspection on Light because of occurrences in the underground network of storm drains energy distribution in Rio de Janeiro. The area will check monthly monitoring in the actions taken by the company.
 
To this end, the Agency will assign an inspector to follow exclusively the work of Light in their underground networks.

The decision was reported late this afternoon (07/05) to Light, at a meeting convened by the board of ANEEL.The director general of the Agency, Nelson Hübner said that these occurrences shall not continue to happen and that the company should provide a proper service without risking the lives of the citizens of Rio.

Hübner reiterated that ANEEL has been monitoring the maintenance actions and improvements to the network of Light since the beginning of 2010, but the recent events have led ANEEL to work more intensively and continuously to prevent further incidents. All information about these events will be considered in the inspection process, which will assess any application fee to the company. (GL/HB/PG/FA/DB)
