Bids for energy auctions in August 2011 were approved

The board of the National Energy Agency (ANEEL) approved this afternoon (07/18) the notices of auctions generation no. 02/2011 (A-3*) and no. 03/2011, to be held on August 17 and 18 respectively. The Energy Research Company (EPE) registered 582 projects to participate in contests, with a total of 27,561 MW of installed power.

For Auction No. 002/2011, the Initial Price of Product Availability will be BRL 139.00/MWh, while the SP Product Quantity is BRL 139.00/MWh and the Reference Price of the HPP Jirau-Ampliação will be BRL 102.00/MWh. Finally, the Reference Price of other hydropower projects will be BRL 139.00/MWh.

The initial price of energy Auction no. 003/2011 will be BRL 146.00 per megawatt/hour (MWh). The price is one price because businesses will compete in terms of price in one product.

In Generation Auction No. 02/2011 (A-3) will be offered the recruitment of energy from new ventures to generate hydropower plants, wind farms and biomass power plant or natural gas with supply beginning as from March 1, 2014. The event will take place on the internet and electricity generated will be subject to Contract of Energy Trading in the Regulated Environment (CCEAR), in terms of availability and amount of energy.

Reserve Energy Auction No. 03/2011 provides for the procurement of energy from wind and biomass sources, with supply beginning as from July 1, 2014. The event will also happen through the Internet, but the power will be subject to negotiated Reserve Energy Contract (CER) in the amount of energy per mode.

*As the date of commencement of energy supply will take place in 2014 (three years from now), the auction is called A-3. The early contests where the supply takes place in five years are classified as A-5.
