The National Energy Agency (ANEEL) will hold on September 21 and 22, in Brasilia (DF), the International Seminar on Energy Prepayment. The goal is to learn the international experience on the subject, discuss the possibility of applying the Brazilian market and obtain support for the regulation of energy prepayment in the country.

Representatives from countries like UK, Australia, South Africa, Argentina, Peru and Colombia will demonstrate experience with prepaid energy and members of associations will also make presentations with the most current issue and possible applications to the Brazilian reality.

The matter will be discussed by the Agency in this first seminar and, in another step, through public hearings. The intention is that all sectors of society participate in the discussion, especially the representation of consumers.

The registration dates for the event was scheduled by public. In the first stage, which ends on September 4, only federal and state regulatory agencies, concessionaires and licensees for the distribution of electricity, industry associations, ministries, agencies and consumer protection bodies and legislators should register. From September 12 to 18, the registration will be open to society and to consumers, generally.
