Those wishing to contribute to the regulation of the ombudsmen of the concessionaires and permit holders of public energy distribution can send their contributions as from next Thursday (09/01). The decision was made during a public meeting of the board this Tuesday (08/30).

The public hearing is a continuation of public consultation in March this year in order to discuss the issue. In all, 14 contributions were received from industry players, consumer associations and the PROCON.

One of the proposals of the draft resolution placed in open hearing to compel the Ombudsman to be independent and autonomous in relation to other organizational units of the distributor and also allow the ombudsman to propose, including to the highest authority of the concessionaire, solutions and changes in processes, procedures and routines, with a view to improving service quality.

The agency decided to discuss the matter before the importance of the ombudsman as a communication channel between the consumer and the government. From 2000 to April 2011, the ombudsman of the National Energy Agency (ANEEL) and the 11 state agencies convened recorded 10 million visits. On average, there are six thousand calls a day to the Telemarketing Call Center (TCC), besides requests by letter, fax, in person, email and chat. About 90% of the electrical power distribution has an ombudsman and, of those, 65% were created over five years ago.

Contributions may be sent until 10/14 through e-mail: ap046_2011@aneel.gov.br, by fax (55 61) 2192-8839 or to ANEEL’s address (SGAN, Quadra 603, Módulo I, Térreo, Protocolo Geral , CEP. 70830-030), Brasília (DF). There will also be an onsite session on 10/05, at the agency's headquarters, in Brasilia. (PG/GL)
