The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency's (ANEEL) collegiate board granted partial appeal to CELG Distribuição S/A and reduced the fine levied on the company from R$ 21.4 million to R$ 13.9 million.Celg was fined for improper management of the concession’s economic-financial resources and for not insuring the concession’s assets. The decision was handed down this Tuesday (9/13).
The Agency’s board understood in two of the seven nonconformities pointed out by inspection, the fine was not proportional to the damage actually caused.
According to the Agency, the fine characterizes a serious violation for improper management of concession resources and for improper expropriation of tariff resources that resulted in not insuring the concession's assets. At last week’s meeting (9/6), the board granted the company’s readjustment, but the percentage cannot be applied because the company is in default with sector charges.Read more
