The collegiate board of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) approved the normative resolution today that reviews the provisions on rural classification contained in arts. 2 and 5 of REN no. 414/2010. It was decided to return to the text of normative resolution no. 456/2000, without the conceptual definition of the terms "agriculture and livestock", "aquaculture" and "subsistence agriculture", detailed in article 5 of the classification criteria for these activities.

In order to define the classification of rural consumer units, the National Classification of Economic Activities (CNAE) was used as a reference in relation to the classification of productive activities. Those consumer units that carry out agriculture, livestock or aquaculture activities, shown in groups 1.1 to 1.6 or 3.2 of the CNAE, should be classified as rural.

The subject was discussed in a public hearing by document exchange from August 17 to 30. The changes take effect when the resolution is published in the Official Federal Gazette. (FA/DB).
