The transfer of public illumination assets from the distributors to the municipalities will be discussed on November 23 in the city of Belo Horizonte, MG, and no longer in Brasília, as initially projected. Since Minas Gerais has the biggest number of municipalities in the country, the collegiate board of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency voted to approve holding the session in the state at its public meeting today (20).
The matter, which is in public hearing until December 9, will also be discussed in the state capitals of Manaus (AM), on 10/27, Recife (PE), on 11/4, and São Paulo, on 11/17. The transfer is stipulated in article 218 of Resolution no. 414/2010, which deals with the General Conditions for Electricity Supply. The article stipulates the deadlines for the distributors to prove the sending of public illumination asset transfer proposals to municipal public authorities in their concession areas.
Since the mayors indicated a lack of financial conditions in the municipalities to incur public illumination infrastructure maintenance costs, the agency decided to suspend the deadline until conclusion of the public hearing. Read more.
