ANEEL directors open seminar on prepayment of energy

The International Seminar on Prepayment promoted by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) began today (9/21) in the Parlamundi Auditorium, in Brasília (DF). The opening was made by the agency’s general director, Nelson Hübner, and the director André Pepitone da Nóbrega. During the event, international experiences will be presented on the use of prepaid electric energy systems.

The directors underscored the importance of discussing the theme with all community representatives and the opportunity to get to know the plurality of world experiences, aimed at obtaining the best model for application in the country. The opening table also had the participation of Federal Deputy Arnaldo Jardim, former ANEEL director, José Guilherme Senna and the superintendent of Agency Commercialization Regulation, Marcos Bragatto. The deputy praised the initiative and considered the seminar the first step in discussing the installation of smart grids in Brazil.
The initial lecture on energy prepayment solutions was given by the advisor to the president of the Brazilian Electric and Electronic Industry Association (ABINEE), Roberto Barbieri. The schedule also includes the experience of the Public Utilities of Medellin (EPM) in Colombia, which will be exposed by the company’s distribution and transmission manager, Néstor Encinales Gallo.

In the afternoon, representatives of Argentina and Mozambique present the results of their respective countries in applying the prepaid system. This will be followed by a roundtable moderated by the representative from Gesel/UFRJ, Roberto Brandão.

On Thursday (9/22), the second and last day of the seminar, the experiences of the United Kingdom and South Africa will be presented. The lectures will be available on the event's hotsite starting Friday (9/23). (FA/AF/GL).
