The Superintendence of Water Energy Management and Studies (SGH) approved, through Dispatch no. 3.785, of 9/19/2011, the Rio Branco Basin Hydroelectric Inventory Studies. These studies total an inventoried power of approximately 1049 megawatts (MW), distributed over four utilizations.
On the Mucajaí River, a tributary of the Rio Branco, Paredão M1, with an installed power of 69.90 MW, Paredão A, with an installed power of 199.30 MW, and Fé e Esperança, with an installed power of 71.70 MW were approved. And on Rio Branco, the Bem Querer J1A, with an installed power of 708.40 MW, which is part of the Federal Government’s Growth Acceleration Program (PAC), was approved.
The Rio Branco is a tributary on the left bank of the Rio Negro. Its basin, with a drainage area of more than 188 thousand km2, is located almost entirely in Roraima.
With the approval of these studies, the hydroelectric utilizations identified therein are now part of the portfolio of available plants for the elaboration of feasibility studies and basic projects.
