The board of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) approved, during a public meeting held this Tuesday (10/04), changes in the dates of the on-site sessions that will discuss the transfer of public lighting assets of distributors to municipalities. The session in Manaus (AM) was brought forward to 10/19. In Belo Horizonte (MG), the meeting will take place on 11/24.

The issue, which will be under public hearing until 12/09, will also be discussed in the capitals Recife (PE), on 11/04, and São Paulo, on 11/17. The planned transfer is provided in Article 218 of Resolution 414/2010, which addresses General Electricity Supply Conditions. The article sets out the deadlines for distributors to confirm submission of the public lighting asset transfer proposals for the municipal governments of their concession areas.

Since the mayors point out the municipalities’ lack of financial conditions to afford the maintenance of the public lighting infrastructure, the agency decided to suspend the period until completion of the public hearing. Read more here.
