ANEEL approves a result of the Reserve Auction held in August

The executive board of the National Energy Agency (ANEEL) approved on Tuesday (10/11), approval of the results and awarding of the Energy Auction no. 003/2011 (Reserve Power), held on August 18, 2011, in the Energy Trading Chamber (CCEE), in São Paulo. The estimated date schedule of events for the winners of the auction to begin the accession process to the CCEE will be up to 11/17.

The only authorization not awarded is about the exploration of TPP BEVAP to Bioenergética Vale do Paracatu, since the company was not empowered by the Energy Research Company (EPE) and only participated in the auction because of the injunction which is no longer in force. But the company still has time to appeal for its disqualification in the auction.

The auction sold 460.4 average megawatts (MWmed) of 41 plants, 34 of which using wind and seven using biomass power, with supply beginning July 1, 2014. The power of the 41 plants sum 1,218.1 MW and total investment for implementation of contracted projects is approximately BRL 3.26 billion.

The average selling price of power per megawatt hour (MWh) was BRL 99.61, with an average discount of 31.8% over the highest price, which was BRL 146.00/MWh. This discount represents savings of BRL 3.7 billion in energy costs. (AP/GL/DB).
