ANEEL holds a public hearing in Manaus for 10/19

Fonte: ANEEL

The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) wants to hear society about the transfer of public illumination assets from companies to the municipalities, as projected in article 218 of Resolution no.414/2010. For such, it promotes a public hearing with in-person sessions in several major cities. In Manaus, the session is set for October 19.

Article 218 stipulates the deadlines for the distributors to prove the sending of public illumination asset transfer proposals to municipal public authorities in their concession areas, as determined by the constitutional mechanism. However, some municipalities allege a lack of conditions to assume administration of these assets.A study conducted by ANEEL last June shows that 63.8% of the country's municipalities are already responsible for the assets, whereas in the remaining 36.2% the transfer still needs to be carried out.See the asset ownership situation here.

The matter, which is in public hearings until 12/9, will also be discussed in the cities of Recife (PE), on 11/4 and São Paulo, on 11/17.
Since the mayors indicated a lack of financial conditions in the municipalities to incur public illumination infrastructure maintenance costs, the agency decided to suspend the deadline until conclusion of the public hearing.Read more here.

Those interested in contributing to the asset transfer process may send their proposals to the email ap049_2011art218@aneel.gov.br.Contributions may also be sent by fax (61) 2192-8839 or to the Agency’s address at (SGAN, Quadra 603, Módulo I, Térreo, Protocolo Geral, CEP:70.830-030), in Brasília (FD).

In Manaus, the in-person session will be held on 10/19, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, at the Hotel Tajmahal Continental auditorium, located at Avenida Getulio Vargas, number 741, Center.(PG/GL/FA).
