The board of the National Energy Agency (ANEEL) decided on Tuesday (10/25), to maintain current rates of DME Distribuição S/A (DMED) until the publication of the definitive methodology and implementation of the third cycle of rate revisions. The DMED serves 64,405 consumer units in the city of Poços de Caldas (MG).
Resolution No. 1123 of March 22, 2011, had advanced to the third periodic rate revision of DMED from June 28, 2012 to October 28, 2011. However, with the approval of the interim procedures for electricity distributors with a revision scheduled for this year, rates were maintained. The procedure, approved in April (Resolution no. 433/2011) was also adopted in the revisions of the Companhia Energética do Ceará (Coelce), Eletropaulo Metropolitana Eletricidade de São Paulo S/A, and Elektro Eletricidade e Serviços S/A.
After defining the methodology of the third round of rate revisions, the distributors that had the effect of their rates extended will have 28 days to submit the initial information needed to calculate the rate revision, except those relating to the Regulatory Remuneration Base*, which remain following Resolution no. 342/2008.
The new resolution also determines the retroactive application of new contract values at the date of rate revisions. The change in revenue resulting from the difference between the rates applied in the interim period of validity of the rate revision and the ones set out in the approval of the final results will be calculated and compensated.
