In October, the collection of compensation for the use of water resources for generating electricity to municipalities, states and the Union, including royalties (financial compensation payable by the Itaipu Plant) was BRL 175.66 million. In the total value of year (January through October), the value reached BLR 1.663 billion. Of this total, BRL 1.35 billion were distributed by way of CFURH and BRL 305.6 million in royalties.
The resources of October were distributed to 686 municipalities in 21 states, the Federal District and the Union, of which BRL 141.92 million by way of Compensation for Use of Water Resources (CFURH). The transfer of royalties was of BRL 33.7 million to 342 municipalities in five states, the Federal District and the Union
The values were collected from 92 paying companies, which accounted for 174 hydroelectric plants and 184 reservoirs. The data refer to the consult of the collection report held this Monday (10/31).
Municipalities are left with 45% of revenue, while 45% go to other states. The money can be applied to health programs, education and security, but cannot be used to reduce debt, unless the creditor is the Union, or for the payment of staff.
The Union receives the remaining 10%, which are distributed to the National Water Agency (ANA), the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT) and Ministries of Environment, Water Resources and Legal Amazon (MMA) and Mines and Energy (MME).
The collection and distribution of compensation and royalties are the responsibility of the National Energy Agency (ANEEL). The result may be accompanied by the publication of reports on the Agency's website, www.aneel.gov.br, in Technical Information, Financial Compensation, Reports.
