Belo Horizonte will receive, on Thursday, 11/24, the last of four onsite sessions in a public hearing about the transfer of public lighting assets from companies to municipalities, as provided for in Article 218 of Resolution No. 414/2010. The National Energy Agency (ANEEL) will bring together civil society representatives, from 8am to 12pm in the Auditorium of the Development Bank of Minas Gerais, located at Rua Bernardo Guimarães, 1600, at the Lourdes neighborhood.
The Agency determined, in Article 218, the deadlines for distributors to prove the submission of the transfer of public lighting assets proposed for the municipal government of its concession area, as the constitutional provision.
However, some municipalities have claimed lack of conditions to take over the management of those assets. A survey conducted by ANEEL in June shows that 63.8% of municipalities in the country already account for the assets, while in the remaining 36.2%, the transfer must be effected. See here the status of ownership of assets.
As mayors alleged lack of financial conditions of municipalities to pay for the maintenance of public lighting infrastructure, ANEEL suspended the deadline until the completion of the public hearing on 12/09. Read more here.
The previous onsite sessions were held in Manaus, on 10/19, in Recife, on 11/04, and São Paulo, on 11/17.
Those interested in contributing to the process of transferring the assets may submit proposals to the e-mail ap049_2011art218@aneel.gov.br. Contributions can also be sent by fax (55 61) 2192-8839 or to the address of the Agency (SGAN, Quadra 603, Módulo I, Térreo, Protocolo Geral, CEP: 70.830-030), in Brasília (DF). (BT / GL).
