Last Tuesday (11/22), the Normative Resolution that revises Modules 2, 6 and 7 of the Procedures of Power Distribution in the National Electric System (PRODIST) was approved. The main objective of the review is to improve the methodology used by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) for calculating distribution losses. The norm will be used in the third cycle of tariff reviews by the electric energy distributors.
The main changes with approval of the new regulation are:replacement of maximum demand with average demand in calculating power losses; simplification of calculation model for power losses from Average Voltage Distribution System networks and the use of Measurement Campaign information.
These improvements aim at simplifying the calculation models in effect and demand the least amount of information to distributors, keeping the precision level at an appropriate level. The public hearing received 14 contributions sent between May 5 and June 3, 2011. (DB/PG/LC).
