ANEEL maintains fine given to Furnas and three agents for noncompliance with industry standards.
The executive board of the National Energy Agency (ANEEL) decided to maqintain a fine of BRL 17.9 million to the Furnas Power Plants for responsibility in the event of 12/11/2010, originated in Grajaú substation, which caused shutdown of approximately 1,500 MW of the concession area of the Light Serviços de Eletricidade, in Rio de Janeiro. The use of the company was appreciated today (29) and in a public meeting to finishes the discussions about the issue at the administrative level.
The lack of a transformer in the Grajaú SS* allowed the spread of the shutdown to the Jacarepaguá SS, which also showed gaps in the protection system. The incident caused a blackout of 2h49min in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The rapporteur of the case, director Edvaldo Santana, argued that the lack of equipment placed at risk and the operation had not happened despite the accidental short circuit and shutdown, the absence of the transformer was already a very serious infraction.
At the same meeting, the board also evaluated the use of three agents in the industry and maintained the penalties applied by the Agency's supervision areas. See below. FA/DB.
