Last Friday (12/9), in a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL), concession agreements were signed for installation of nine transmission projects of nine of the 12 lots auctioned on 9/2/2011, at the Transmission Auction 004/2011. The grant decrees of lots A, E and F have not yet been published. The signing of the agreements was carried out among representatives of the winning companies of the contest and the Director General of the Agency, Nelson Hübner.

The average discount of the auction was 22.74%. This means that the income of entrepreneurs with the exploitation of investments will be lower than the originally expected amount, contributing to low energy tariffs. The average Annual Allowed Revenue (RAP)* to be obtained after the start of operation of the projects will be at around R$263.6 million, compared to the initially established R$341.2 million. The 12 auctioned lots comprise 2,051 kilometers (km) of transmission lines and 12 substations with 6,900 megavolt-ampere (MVA) of power. The projects are located in the states of Roraima, Pará, Mato Grosso, Goiás, Paraná, Minas Gerais, Piauí, Pernambuco, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Alagoas, and Paraíba. The new facilities will require investments of around R$2.8 billion, generating 11,600 direct jobs. The period of completion of works will be 18 to 36 months and the concession agreements are valid for 30 years. (MR/AR/BT)
