The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) approved the review of Pelotas River hydroelectric inventory studies at the section between its source and the reservoir pool formed by the Pai Querê Hydroelectric Plant (HEP).Elaborated by Piquiri Energética S/A, these studies total an inventoried power of approximately 135.5 megawatts (MW), distributed over seven utilizations.Agency approval was published in the Official Federal Gazette on Monday (12/12), through Dispatch no. 4.758.
The Pelotas River is the most important tributary on the left bank of Canoas River and it forms the natural border between the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.Its basin has a drainage area of approximately 2,220 square kilometers (km2).
With the approval of these studies, the hydroelectric utilizations identified therein are now part of the portfolio of available plants for the elaboration of feasibility studies and basic projects.
