In a public meeting held today (12/20), the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) decided to maintain the power transfer tariff for Itaipu Binational at US$ 24.88 dollars per kilowatt per month (/kW.month), the same value as December 2011, until 1/31/2012. The Agency will make the calculation for February to December 2012 as soon as Eletrobrás informs the unit cost for electricity service from Itaipu Binational. The company is responsible for commercializing the plant’s energy.
The plant’s transfer tariff is applied to the providing of electricity services, and it is paid for by the 30 shareholder distributers for purchasing hydroelectric energy located in the south, southeast and midwest. (FA/BT)
