The concession agreement of Lot E of transmission auction 004/2011, held in September last year, was signed today (1/12) at the headquarters of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL), by the Agency’s Director-General, Nelson Hübner and representatives of Consórcio Costa Oeste (comprising Copel Geração e Transmissão S.A. – 51% – and Eletrosul Centrais Elétricas S.A. – 49%). Lot E contains the transmission line Cascavel-Umuarama, with 143 km in length, and substation Umuarama. These projects aim to strengthen power supply to the Northwest Region of Paraná.
On December 9 last year, agreements were signed for most of the lots in this contest, except Lots A, E, and F. Click here to check the detailed results of the auction. The 12 auctioned lots comprise 2,051 kilometers (km) of transmission lines and 12 substations with 6,900 megavolt-amperes (MVA) of power. The projects are located in the states of Roraima, Pará, Mato Grosso, Goiás, Paraná, Minas Gerais, Piauí, Pernambuco, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Alagoas, and Paraíba. The new facilities will require investments of approximately R$2.8 billion, generating 11,600 direct jobs. The period of completion for the works is 18 to 36 months and the concession agreements will be valid for 30 years. (DB/PG).
