The public hearing to discuss the public notice draft of Generation Auction 01/2012 A-3* was approved today (1/17) during the College Board meeting of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL). The contest, scheduled for March 22, will offer the contracting of energy from generation projects for hydropower, wind and thermal power sources by biomass or natural gas, with supply scheduled to commence by January 1, 2015.
The electricity generated will be subject to Energy Trade Agreements in Regulated Environments (CCEAR), in modalities by quantity, with 30-year periods (water projects), and by energy availability, with 20-year periods (wind and thermal power plants by biomass and natural gas).
The document follows the guidelines for conducting the auction, published in Administrative Rule 554/2011 of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME). The systematics of the auction will be defined according to MME Administrative Rule 006/2012.
