The Board of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) has authorized the company Carolina Geração de Energia Ltda. to operate as an independent producer of electricity through the implementation and operation of the small hydropower plant (SHP) Santa Carolina. The decision was made at the meeting held last Tuesday (1/17).
The plant is located in the municipalities of André da Rocha e Muitos Capões, in Rio Grande do Sul. The SHP has 10.5 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity.
ANEEL’s Generation Database (BIG) recorded on Thursday (1/19) the existence of 1,022 independent electricity producers authorized by the Agency.
