The installed capacity in Brazil in 2011 reached 117,134.72 Megawatts (MW), originated from 2608 hydroelectric plants, thermal power plants, wind farms, nuclear plants, small hydroelectric power plants.The data are contained in the inspection report of ANEEL, which presents the upgrade of the Generator Park of Brazil until December 31 last year.
The energy from hydroelectric power plants predominates and accounts for 66.91% of the installed capacity of the country, followed by thermal power plants, with 26.67%, and small hydroelectric plants, with 3.3%.Also making up the matrix are 1.71% from nuclear power, 1.22% from wind farms and 0.18% from power plants.
In the report are also listed the projects that went into commercial operation during 2011 and generated an output of 4199.3 MW. Of which 1142.8 MW are from hydroelectric plants, 432.7 MW from small hydropower plants (SHP), 498.3 MW from wind farms and 2125.5 MW from HPP, divided between fossil fuel-fired (1206.45 MW) and biomass (919.05 MW) ones.
