The National Energy Agency (ANEEL) will promote, on Friday (02/03), a public hearing in Fortaleza to present the proposal to the preliminary index of the third periodic rate revision of Companhia Energética do Ceará (Coelce).

The onsite session will be held at 8:30am in the auditorium of Federação das Indústrias do Estado do Ceará, located at Avenida Barão Studart, 1980, Bairro Aldeota, in Fortaleza.The hearing, conducted by the Agency’s Director André Pepitone da Nobrega, aims to gather contributions from consumers and representatives of public and private institutions of consumer protection agencies, neighborhood associations and other civil society groups to the revision process of the concessionaire.

ANEEL's proposal to revise the expected average reduction of Coelce – 10.16% (negative) for prices of consumers served by the utility.The distributor provides electricity to 2.8 million consumer units distributed in 184 municipalities of Ceará, including the capital city Fortaleza.Documents relating to the proposal are available in the "Consumer Space" profile, in the link Hearings/Consultations/Forum  of the e-mail address www.aneel.gov.br.

The rate revision is foreseen in the concession contracts in order to get the rates balance based on the remuneration of investment companies focused on the provision of distribution services and coverage of expenses actually recognized by ANEEL.It is applied to the distribution companies every four years on average.

Due to the discussions concerning the methodology for the 3rd cycle of periodic rate revisions, there was no time to perform Coelce’s RTP on the date specified in the concession contract (04/22/2011).For this reason, the rates were extended, as required by Resolution No. 471/2011.
