In February, the collection of compensation for the use of water resources for electricity generation to cities, states and the Union, including royalties (compensation payable by the Itaipu Dam), was BRL 174.96 million. In the total amount year (January and February), the figure rose to BRL 345 million. Of this total, BRL 278.37 million were distributed as CFURH and BRL 66.65 million in royalties.
Resources for February were distributed to 688 cities in 22 states, the Federal District and the Union, of which BRL 142.03 million by way of Compensation for Use of Water Resources (CFURH). The transfer of royalties was BRL 32.92 million to 326 counties in six states, the Federal District and the Union
The values were collected from 92 companies paying, responsible for 174 and 185 hydroelectric reservoirs. The data refer to consulting the report collection held this Thursday (03/01).
Municipalities are left with 45% of the collection, while another 45% goes to the states. The money can be invested in health, education and security programs, but cannot be used to shoot down debt, unless the creditor is the Union, or for the payment of staff.
The Union receives the remaining 10%, which are distributed to the National Water Agency (ANA), the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT) and Ministries of Environment, Water Resources and Legal Amazon (MMA) and Mines and Energy (MME).
The collection and distribution of compensation and royalties are the responsibility of the National Energy Agency (ANEEL).
