The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) concluded today (3/2) one more phase of the public hearing for Companhia Energética do Ceará’s (Coelce) third periodic tariff review, with the live session in the city of Fortaleza (CE).The utility serves 2.8 million consumer units in 184 municipalities in Ceará.This live session, presided over by ANEEL director, André Pepitone da Nóbrega, had 113 participants, including distributor representatives, consumer boards, members of resident associations, congressmen and consumers.

The proposal for the average preliminary effect of Coelce’s third tariff review, which projects a reduction of -10.16% (negative) in consumer bills was presented at the hearing. The definitive index for Coelce’s review will be approved in an ANEEL board meeting to be held after analysis of the contributions made in the public hearing.
The documents related to the proposal are available on the "A ANEEL" profile, at Hearings/Consultations/Forum  on the www.aneel.gov.br website.

The tariff review is projected in concession contracts with the objective of obtaining equilibrium in the tariffs based on the remuneration of company investments geared towards providing distribution services and covering expenses effectively recognized by ANEEL.It is applied to distribution utilities every four years, on average.

Due to the discussions related to the methodology for the 3rd Cycle of Periodic Tariff Reviews, there has not been sufficient time to conduct Coelce’s PTR on the date stipulated in the concession contract (4/22/2011). For that reason, the tariffs were extended, as determined by Resolution no. 471/2011.
