The application for Extraordinary Rate Revision (TEN) made by Centrais Elétricas do Pará S/A (CELPA) was rejected by the National Electricity Board during the public meeting today (03/06).
CELPA requested an adjustment, with the average effect to be perceived by consumers, of 20.14%. The company claimed in its application that it is in disequilibrium driven by economic and financial results of the last two periodic rate revisions that would have meant insufficient regulatory resources to provide adequate distribution service.
According to the agency's decision, the current economic financial disequilibrium alleged by the concessionaire does not have as a cause the established rate level, but depends crucially on actions to improve management and allocation of resources by the shareholders.
In addition to the annual adjustments and periodic revisions, ANEEL can also perform the Extraordinary Rate Revision at any time, at the request of the distributor, when some event causes significant economic and financial imbalances. It can also be requested in cases of creation, modification or termination of taxes or legal fees, after the signing of concession contracts, and since the impact on company activities is substantiated.
The 3rd Periodic Rate Revision of CELPA is scheduled for August 7, 2012, when the methodology approved in November last year, will be applied to the 3rd cycle. The concessionaire currently serves 1,761,495 consuming units throughout the state of Pará. (PG/DB).
