Furnas Centrais Elétricas S/A won Lot E, the last lot in Transmission Auction no. 02/2012 held by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) this Friday (3/9). After opening the bidding phase, without any new proposals, it won the bid with an offer worth R$ 7,004,148.00, 2% less than the Permitted Annual Revenue (PAR) initially established by the Agency. PAR is the revenue to which a company has the right for providing transmission service after the start of commercial operations at the installations.
Lot E is comprised by the Zona Oeste 500/138 Kilowatt (KW) substation in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). The main benefit projected is to increase reliability in the supply of electricity for the city, especially to meet the differentiated safety criteria to be adopted when holding the 2014 World Cup. Works should be concluded in 20 months after signing the concession contract, creating an estimated 348 direct jobs.
