Financial compensation in March for using water resources for generating electricity to cities, states and the Union, including royalties(financial compensation owed by the Itaipu Plant) reached R$ 189.6 million.YTD (January to March), this amount reached R$ 534.63 million.Of this total, R$ 434.02 million were distributed as CFURH and R$ 100.61 million in royalties.
March resources were distributed to 688 cities in 22 states, the Federal District and the Union, R$ 155.64 million of which as Financial Compensation for the Use of Water Resources (CFURH).The transfer of royalties totaled R$ 33.96 million to 326 municipalities in five states, the Federal District and the Union.
These sums were collected from 93 paying companies, responsible for 175 hydroelectric plants and 185 reservoirs.The data refer to consultation of the collection report held this Monday (4/2).
The cities keep 45% of the sum collected, while another 45% goes to the states.The money can be used in health, education and safety programs, but it cannot be used to pay debts, unless the creditor is the Union, or to pay for personnel.
The Union receives the remaining 10%, which is distributed among the National Water Agency (ANA), the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT) and the Ministries of Environment, Water Resources and Legal Amazon (MMA) and Mines and Energy (MME).
