This Thursday (4/26), the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) will hold a face-to-face session in São Paulo to present the proposal with the preliminary index for the third periodic review of AES Eletropaulo.
ANEEL’s proposal for Eletropaulo’s review projects an average reduction of 8.81% (negative) for the tariffs of consumers served by the utility. The distributor provides electricity to 6.3 million consumer units distributed in the capital and 23 cities in the state of São Paulo.
The face-to-face session will be held at 1:30 pm in the auditorium of the Electricians Union of São Paulo, atRua Thomaz Gonzaga, 50, Liberdade, in the city of São Paulo. The tariff reviews promoted by ANEEL are preceded by public hearings in which the agency tries to hear society and receive contributions from sector agents and stakeholders in the process.Besides participating in the face-to-face session this Thursday, stakeholders may send contributions by 5/11/2012 to: ap025_2012rv@aneel.gov.br . After the contributions period has ended, the matter will be deliberated in a Board meeting that will decide the final index to be practiced by the distributor starting 7/4/2011.
The tariff review is projected in the contracts and the objective is to obtain economic-financial equilibrium in the concession. It is applied to distribution utilities every four years, on average.
Due to the discussions related to the methodology for the 3rd Cycle of Periodic Tariff Reviews, there has not been sufficient time to conduct Eletropaulo’s PTR on the date stipulated in the concession contract (7/4/2011). For that reason, the tariffs were extended, as determined by Resolution no. 471/2011. Read more about the tariff extension.
The Agency provides the spot (audio), with an invitation for the population to participate in the face-to-face session of the public hearing in São Paulo. See here.(PG/DB)
