Today (April 27th), the National Agency of Electrical Energy (ANEEL) held one more public hearing session of the third periodic tariff revision of the distributor Companhia Paranaense de Energia Electrica (Copel), with the completion of the live session in the capital Curitiba. The utility serves 3.9 million consumers in 393 cities of Paraná.
Theclassroom session, chaired by ANEEL’s adviser Nara Rubia de Souza, had 72 participants, among industry players and representatives of the city administration, PROCON, consumer councils and the Brazilian Court of Audit (TCU).
The proposal of the average effectof the third preliminary tariff revision of Copel was presented at the hearing, which provides an average reduction of -0.85% (negative) in the bills of consumers. The final index of the concessionaire’s revision will be approved by ANEEL at board meeting to be held after consideration of the contributions made at the public hearing.

The tariff revision is foreseen in the concession contracts and its purpose it to balance the rates based on the investments received by companies providing distribution services and coverage of expenses recognized by ANEEL. It is applied to the distribution companies every four years, on average. (DB / PG)
