The National Energy Agency (ANEEL) approved during a Public Meeting last Tuesday (05/15) the procedures for reporting serious occurrence and prolonged unavailability and suspension of the operational status of development of electric power generation. The matter was discussed at Public Hearing No. 062/2011, which received contributions in the period from 10/14/2011 to 12/02/2011.

The approved standard brings the concepts of serious occurrence, prolonged downtime and operational situation.According to the resolution, this is the first event in the entire installation of power generation related to its operation or maintenance involving accident in a civil structure and/or electromechanical equipment, death or injury to persons. The extended unavailability regards the unavailability classified as intended, which occurred in a generation unit in the estimated period of more than ninety days or, in case of non-programmed unavailability, in a period estimated at greater than ten days. Finally, the situation was defined as the operating condition of a certain generating unit for monitoring, programming and recording purposes.

All of these items should be provided to ANEEL and state agencies which they have an agreement with, for purposes of supervision and monitoring.Check here the draft of the resolution adopted. (PG/DB)
