This Thursday (7/5), the period begins for sending contributions to Public Hearing no. 051/2012, with the objective of discussing procedures for considering the effects of postponing periodic tariff reviews that could not be approved by the dates projected in the concession contracts due to the lack of approval of methodologies in a timely manner.Opening of the hearing was approved at a public meeting by the Board last Tuesday (7/3).
Normative Resolution no. 471/2011 currently stipulates that the variation in revenues resulting from the difference between tariffs actually applied during the tariff review validity period and those defined in the approval of definitive results will be resolved and considered a financial component in the next tariff readjustment.However, this projection may cause distortions regarding the actual price of electric energy service, since a tariff reduction would be made one year, and a tariff increase the following year.
Altogether, seven utilities should have undergone tariff reviews in 2011, however due to discussions on the methodology of the 3rd cycle of tariff reviews, approved last November, the reviews could only be approved this year.Contributions to the hearing should be sent by 7/27 to:ap051_2012@aneel.gov.br, by fax (61) 2192-8839 or to the Agency’s address at SGAN, Quadra 603, Módulo I, Térreo, Protocolo Geral, CEP:70.830-030, in Brasília (FD).(PG/DB)
