IascYesterday, September 3rd,  the National Agency of Electric Energy (ANEEL) began the series of interviews with consumers of electricity for the 13th edition of the annual survey that calculates the ANEEL Costumer Satisfaction Index (Índice ANEEL de Satisfação do Consumidor – IASC). The questionnaires will be applied by October 2012 and the results are to be announced in December, with the award of the  “Índice Aneel de Satisfação do Consumidor – IASC” Prize.

A total of 19,470 interviews will be conducted with residential consumers living in 475 municipalities distributed in the concession areas served by 63 distributors operating in the country. The researchers will be present in all capitals of the country, in all the municipalities where the concessionaires operate  and in various locations chosen by the Agency through public lottery.

The IASC Index measures the level of quality of electricity distribution services, according to residential consumers. The collected data is used to support ANEEL in the execution of inspection activities and improve the regulatory process. The results are also meant to improve the services provided by  distribution companies. Best evaluated concessionaires, according to customers, will be awarded with the “Índice Aneel de Satisfação do Consumidor – IASC”Prize.

The 63 contestants are grouped according to regional criteria and number of consumers. Best evaluated concessionaires in each category will be awarded with the trophy and the IASC SEAL –  a stamp that may be printed on electricity bills and  institutional and marketing materials – a stimulus for continuous improvement of services provided to electricity consumers.

Survey results since 2000 can be found here (aqui) or on “Espaço do Consumidor/Iasc” on theAgency's website – www.aneel.gov.br  (JS / MB).
