The board of directors of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica – ANEEL) approved the public hearing to define regulatory parameters in reference to the approval of basic projects of hydropower plants not centrally dispatched by the National Electricity System Operator (ONS – Operador Nacional do Sistema Elétrico).

According to the Agency, the difference between the project and the actual value generation from these plants is due to the following factors: number of flows is not consistent with the location of use; machines that do not offer the performance defined in design, hydraulic losses above estimated project; consumption higher than interior design, electrical losses to the point of connection to the larger project and forced and scheduled downtime than those considered in the design.

ANEEL's proposal is more conservative values present in the basic design stage. If during the operation of the plant, the generation is higher, then the necessary adjustments will be promoted. The expectation of the Agency is to encourage the agent to implement the project seek to generate maximum compatible with the characteristics of the plant sit.

The term for sending contributions to the hearing will be from 09/17 to 10/19 of this year.
