The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica – ANEEL) promotes on this Wednesday (11/07) live public hearing session Nº 080/2012, in the city of Itapetininga (SP), to present the proposal with the preliminary index of the Third Periodic Tariff Review for Companhia Sul Paulista de Força e Luz (CPFL Sul Paulista).

The hearing, to be chaired by the Chairman of the Board of the Agency, Ricardo Martins, aims to gather input from consumers and representatives of public and private institutions, organs of consumer protection of residents' associations and other civil society groups to the review process of the dealership.

ANEEL’s proposal for the review of CPFL Sul Paulista predicts average reduction of -4.12% (negative) in the prices of consumers served by the utility. The distributor provides power to about 70,000 customers in five municipalities of São Paulo: Itapetininga, São Miguel Arcanjo, Sarapuí, Guareí and Alambari.

The tariff revision is planned in the concession contracts and aims to get the balance of rates based on the return on investments of companies focused on the provision of distribution services and coverage of expenses actually recognized by ANEEL. It is applied to the distribution concession companies every four years, on average.
Due to the discussions concerning the methodology for the 3rd Periodic Tariff Review Cycle, there was no time to perform RTP for the concession company on the date foreseen in the concession contract. For this reason, rates were extended, as required by Resolution nº 471/2011. (VS/PG)
