The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica – ANEEL) approved during the Regular Public Meeting on Tuesday (11/06), the opening of the public hearing for the 3rd Tariff Review Cycle for Energisa Borborema. Through the hearing, the Agency will receive contributions from society about the rate review process of the concession company until December 10. The new rates will go into effect starting February 4, 2013. The concession company serves the city of Campina Grande and five other cities in the interior of Paraíba.
The hearing process will start this Thursday (11/08), and will count on a live session this coming December 7, starting at 2 p.m., in the auditorium of the Federation of Industries of the State of Paraiba in Campina Grande. The announcement was made by the local reporter of the process, André Pepitone da Nóbrega, during deliberation.
The values submitted to the hearing by ANEEL consist of preliminary average adjustment of 2.09% for all consumers of the concession company. The expectation is for an increase to the residential consumer, of 5.07%, a rate lower than the projection of the IGP for the period of February 2012 to January 2013, which is 8.31%. As for large commercial and industrial consumers, the forecast is to decrease from 4.63%.
The hearing will also discuss the quality of service and the limits for the period 2014 to 2017. Even with a history of quality indicators below the overall limit set by ANEEL, Energisa Borborema paid to consumers in 2010, 166,803 compensation totaling R$ 143,917.92. Whereas in 2011 there were 172,648 compensation totaling R$ 163,529.00 returned directly to consumers on the electricity bill, for violation of individual indicators DIC, FIC and DMIC, calculated at each consumer unit.
