Tariff Review for Energisa Borborema is discussed in Campina Grande (PB)

The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica – ANEEL) held today (07/12) the live  Session of Public Hearing No. 94/2012 in the city of Campina Grande, Paraíba state. The event, chaired by the director of ANEEL André Pepitone da Nóbrega, was attended by 83 people, including representatives of unions, industry and commerce, neighborhood associations and consumers, teachers, unions and representatives of public bodies.

The purpose of the hearing was to discuss the revision of tariff of concessionaire Energia Borborema, which serves the city of Campina Grande and five other cities in the state. The new rates will go into effect starting February 4, 2013.

The figures submitted to the hearing by ANEEL consist of an average preliminary adjustment of 2.09% for all consumers of the concessionaire. The expectation is for an increase, for the residential consumer, of 5.07%, a rate lower than the projection of the IGP for the period of February 2012 to January 2013, which is 8.31%. As for large commercial and industrial consumers, the forecast is to decrease 4.63%.

The hearing also discussed the quality of service and the limits set for the period 2014 to 2017. Even with a history of quality indicators below the overall limit set by ANEEL, Energisa Borborema paid to consumers in 2010, 166,803 compensation totaling R$ 143,917.92. Whereas in 2011 172,648 compensations eere paid, totaling R$ 163,529.00 returned directly to consumers on the electricity bill, for violation of individual indicators DIC, FIC and DMIC, calculated for each consumer unit.
