With regard to the article published in Folha de S. Paulo today, January 22, entitled “Para Aneel, há risco de faltar luz na Copa”(“Risk of outage in the 2014 World Cup, according to ANEEL”), the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) clarifies that delays the distribution works offer no risk to power supplies for the 2014 World Cup .
Technical Note 0188/2012-SFE/ANEEL, published on December 10, assesses the position of the 3rd quarter of 2012 and stresses that “it is still possible that distribution concessionaires offset the delays with the urgent streamlining of the implementation of the distribution networks and substations listed in Technical Note 056/2011-SRD/ANEEL”. The Agency also clarifies that the distribution works are of low complexity and allow for deployment in very tight deadlines.
The Agency conducts routine monitoring of concessionaires, with the aim of monitoring the works of the electricity distribution sector related to the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The technical notes are available for consultation on the website of ANEEL at: http://www.aneel.gov.br/area.cfm?idArea=38&idPerfil=2.
