Installed capacity in Brazil reached 121.1 thousand Megawatts (MW) in 2012 from 2809 Hydroelectric Plant, Thermoelectric Plants, Wind Farms, Nuclear Plants, Small Hydroelectric Stations and Hydroelectric Generator Stations.The data is found in the ANEEL inspection report that shows Brazil’s updated Generation Park up until last December 31.
Hydroelectric power predominates and is responsible for 65.96% of the country’s installed capacity, followed by the thermoelectric plants with 27.15% and small hydroelectric stations, with 3.52%.The grid is also comprised of power from nuclear plants, 1.66%, wind farms, 1.51% and generation stations, 0.20%.
The report also shows the enterprises that started commercial operations in 2012 and which generated 121.1 thousand MW of power, 79.7 thousand MW of which was from hydroelectric plants, 4.3 thousand MW from small hydroelectric plants (SHP), 1.8 thousand MW from wind farms and 32.9 thousand MW from thermoelectric plants.
