Tariff review for Celpe will be discussed in Recife this week

The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica – ANEEL) promotes next Thursday (02/28) a live Public Hearing session to discuss the 3rd Tariff Review for Companhia Energética de Pernambuco (CELPE). The session will be held, starting at 9 a.m., at Faculdade Frassinetti, located at Avenida Conde da Boa Vista, number 921, Boa Vista neighborhood, in Recife.

The session has the objective of debating the preliminary readjustment proposal of 6.02% for the residential consumer in Pernambuco. For the industries, the proposal is for an average reduction of– 3.63%. The hearing also will discuss the quality of the service and the limits of the continuity indicators *DEC and **FEC for Celpe stipulated for the period of 2014 to 2017.

The tariff reviews promoted by ANEEL are preceded by public hearings, in which the agency seeks to hear society and receive contributions from the sector’s agents and stakeholders in the process. After finalizing the contribution period, the subject will be discussed in a Board of Director’s meeting, which will decide on the final index to be practiced by the distribution company starting 04/29/2013. The tariff review is foreseen in the concession contracts and has the objective of obtaining the balance of the tariffs based on remuneration of the investment of the companies aimed at the distribution service providing and the coverage of expenses effectively acknowledged by ANEEL. It is applied in the distribution concession companies every four years, on average.
