The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica – ANEEL) fulfilled today (02/28) another step of the public hearing for the 3rd Periodic Tariff Review (RTP – Revisão Tarifária Periódica) for Companhia Energética de Pernambuco (CELPE) by holding the live session in the capital Recife. The concession company supplies electricity to 3.2 million consumer units located in 185 municipalities in Pernambuco.
The live session of the public hearing led by ANEEL Director, Julião Silveira Coelho, counted on the presence of 81 participants, among parliamentarians, consumer councils, representatives from CELPE and Federação das Indústrias de Recife.
The preliminary proposal was presented which foresaw an increase of 6.02% on the bills of the distributor’s residential consumer. For the industries, the proposal is of an average reduction of– 3,63%. The definite review index for the concession company will be approved in the ANEEL Board of Director’s meeting to be held after the analysis of contributions received in the public hearing. The index goes into effect on 04/29/13.
The tariff review is foreseen in the concession contracts and has the objective to obtain the balance of the tariff based on the remuneration of the companies’ investments aimed to the providing of distribution services and coverage of expenses effectively acknowledged by ANEEL. It is applied in the distribution concession companies every four years, on average. (DB/PG)
