Today (03/01) another step of the Public Hearing which discussed the 3rd Periodic Tariff Review for Companhia Energética do Rio Grande do Norte (COSERN) was concluded, with the holding of the live session in Natal. Cosern supplies electricity to 1.2 million consumer units located in 167 municipalities in Rio Grande do Norte.
The live session of the Public Hearing lead by Advisor to the Board of ANEEL, Nara Rúbia de Souza, counted on the attendance of 67 participants, among consumers, community leaders, PROCON, Consumer Boards, representatives from the distribution companies and convening agency.
The preliminary proposal was presented which foresees a reduction of –3.71% (negative) on the distributor’s residential consumers’ bills. For the industries, the proposal is for an average increase of 4.63%. The definite index for the concession company will be approved in an ANEEL board meeting to be held after the analysis of the contributions received. The index will go into effect on 04/22/13.
The tariff review is foreseen in the concession contracts and has the objective to obtain the balance of the tariff based on the remuneration of the companies’ investments aimed to the providing of distribution services and coverage of expenses effectively acknowledged by ANEEL. It is applied in the distribution concession companies every four years, on average. (DB/PG)
