Today (3/5) another stage of the Public Hearing that addressed the 3rd Periodic Tariff Revision of Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais (CEMIG) was completed with the onsite session held in Belo Horizonte. The concessionaire provides electricity to seven million consumer units in 805 municipalities.
The Public Hearing session chaired by the Advisor of the Board of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL), José Jurhosa Júnior, was attended by 271 participants, including Consumers, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Parliamentarians, the Consumer Council, Representatives of Associations, University Professors, and CEMIG Representatives.
It presented the preliminary proposal providing for a readjustment of 9.06% in the bills of residential consumers of the distributor. For industries, the proposal is for an average reduction of 2.51%. The final index of the concessionaire’s tariff revision will be approved at a board meeting of ANEEL to be held after analysis of the submissions received. The index is to come into force as of 4/8/2013.
Tariff revision is provided in the concession agreements and aims to obtain the balance of tariffs based on the return on investments of companies focused on the provision of distribution services and coverage of expenses actually recognized by ANEEL. It is applied to the distribution concessionaires every four years on average. (PG / DB)
