The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) completed today (3/6) another stage of the public hearing of the third periodic tariff revision of AES Sul Distribuidora de Energia, holding an onsite session in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul. AES Sul provides electricity to 1.2 million consumer units located in 118 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul.
The onsite session of the public hearing, chaired by the director of ANEEL, André Pepitone da Nóbrega, was attended by 80 participants, including: the Consumer Council of AES Sul, mayors, city councilors, associated state agencies, consumers, and representatives of the distributor.
The hearing presented the preliminary proposal of the third tariff revision, which provides for an increase of 3.03% in the bills of the distributor’s residential consumers. For industries, the proposal is for an average increase of 2.36%. The final index of the concessionaire’s revision will be approved at a board meeting of ANEEL to be held after analysis of the submissions received during the public hearing. The index is to come into force as of 4/19/13.
Tariff revision is provided in the concession agreements and aims to obtain the balance of tariffs based on the return on investments of companies focused on the provision of distribution services and coverage of expenses actually recognized by ANEEL. It is applied to the distribution concessionaires every four years on average. (DB/PG)
